This is the week leading up to The 4th of July weekend! I wanted to pick a song that was related to American pride but not something as typical as 'Party in the U.S.A.' Sorry Miley.

The result! The Presidents of the United States of America! Does a band name get any more American? I think not.

'Peaches' was released in 1996 as the third single off of the band's debut album.

The song climbed all the way to #29 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, and broke into the top 10, at #8 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart.

The song was nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

According to Wikipedia:

The band members have acknowledged that "Peaches" borrows riffs from Bad Company's 1975 song "Feel Like Makin' Love".[2] Thematically, "Peaches" also seems to reference John Prine's 1971 song "Spanish Pipedream" ("move to the country / build you a home. Plant a little garden / eat a lot of peaches") though this might just be coincidence.

Lead singer, Chris Ballew, says he was inspired to write the song after he sat under a peach tree waiting for a girl he had a crush on to come home.

I don't know about you, but I love peaches. Yum!
