I was in a store the other day and this song came over the loudspeaker and I thought to myself, "That would be a great Throwback song."

So here it is.

Avril Lavigne "Sk8r Boi." I was going to say you gotta love the text speak, but in 02 it would probably be more like chat room speak. Anyway, it's a clever way to spell it. It looks more like a MySpace name than a song title, but whatever.

"Sk8r Boi" was the second single off of Avril Lavigne's debut album, Let Go.

"Sk8r Boi" peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100, #23 on Adult Top 40, and all the way to #1 on Mainstream Top 40!

The music video was directed by Francis Lawrence and was a staple on MTV's TRL.

The song even got Avril nominated for some Grammys. According to Wikipedia:

"In the 2003 Grammy Awards edition, Lavigne received 5 nominations, including Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for "Sk8er Boi", but lost it to Sheryl Crow's "Steve McQueen".

I don't know about you, but I never could pull of the whole ties with t-shirts thing.

After two failed marriages to fellow Canadian rockers Deryck Whibley and Chad Kroeger, Lavigne has been flying solo.

She also revealed in 2015 that she has Lyme Disease and is trying her best to manage it.
