"I Want You" was the debut single for Savage Garden off of their album, Savage Garden. (Which I totally own. And their follow-up Affirmation. I like Savage Garden and I don't care what you think.)

Savage Garden was made up of vocalist, Darren Hayes and instrumentalist, Daniel Jones. They formed in 1993 in Queensland, Australia.

According to Wikipedia:

The single hit number one in Canada, and peaked at number 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and in Australia. The single also peaked at number 11 on the UK Singles Chart.

Little known fact. "I Want You" has two music videos. There was a low budget video first shot for Australian audiences and then when the song made its way to America and beyond, a higher-budget video was filmed.

I remember when this song first came out, the rapid lyrics had everyone confused until the line that everyone shouted, " chic-a-cherry cola!"

They should have had a deal with Coke. I mean seriously.

The duo broke up in 2001. Darren Hayes continued releasing solo music, some of which wasn't too bad and Daniel Jones has been working behind the scenes in the Austrlian music world.

I know this is supposed to be the higher budget, fancy video made for America, but what the heck is going on?!
