Frankie J, real name Francisco Javier Bautista, Jr., was born in Mexico but grew up in San Diego, California. He was previously a member of the group, Kumbia Kings, which was formed by the brother of late singer, Selena, A.B. Quintinella.

Frankie decided to go solo in 2003.

"Obsession" was the first single off of Frankie J's third studio album entitled The One. Did you know "Obsession" is actually a cover. It was originally done by a group called, Aventura. The song has many covers, but in the US, Frankie J's is the most popular.

Frankie J's version features Baby Bash, but Baby Bash was also featured on 3rd Wish's cover of the song.

Frankie J's version peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on both the Hot Latin Tracks and Pop Songs chart. It is Frankie J's most successful song in the US to date.

Just for fun, here are the videos for Aventura and 3rd Wish. Who knew this song had so many versions?
