"Stay (I Missed You)" by Lisa Loeb came out in 1994 and was the lead single from the Reality Bites soundtrack. If you haven't seen that movie you should. Even though times are a little different for college graduates now, it is still totally relatable.

Anyway, back to the song, Ethan Hawke, who was in the movie, was a neighbor to Lisa Loeb and actually submitted the song to be on the soundtrack.

Ethan Hawke then directed the music video as well.

Lisa Loeb wrote the song and it was originally recorded when she was with the band, Nine Stories, which is why they are sometimes credited.

This song was everywhere! According to Wikipedia:

"Stay" ultimately went on to become a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, earning her the distinction of being the first artist to top the U.S. chart before being signed to any record label."

The song was also nominated for a Grammy in the Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, but sadly lost to All-4-One's "I Swear". That was stiff competition for sure.

Plus, Lisa Loeb made girls in glasses totally cool!
