Throwback Thursday – Garbage ‘Only Happy When it Rains’ (1995)

Garbage released "Only Happy When It Rains" in 1995 off of their debut album, Garbage.

The band has said the bleak outlook in the song was supposed to be a parody of all the grim and dire music coming out of the 90's.

The song received lots of positive criticism, everything from the production to Shirley Manson's lead vocals were praised.

The song charted well both in the UK and in America. In the U.S. the song even crossed over to the Pop Charts, making it Garbage's most successful song.

The song was also featured in Guitar Hero 5. 

In true 90's music video fashion, nothing about this video makes sense. Where are they? Why are kids in costumes? Why are they destroying musical instruments?
