Guess what?!?!?! I leave for my first vacation out of the United States this week so I figured what better song than "Around the World (La La La La La)" by ATC.

"Around the World" was the debut single for ATC.

ATC is a German pop group and ATC stands for A Touch of Class. Guess what? I'm going to Germany!

While ATC was based in Germany, its members were from all around the world. (Do you see what I did there?)

Anyway, the group was made up of Joseph "Joey" Murray from New Zealand, Sarah Egglestone from Australia, Livio Salvi from Italy, and Tracey Elizabeth Packham from the United Kingdom. They all met in Hamburg, Germany while cast members of Cats.

"Around the World" is actually a cover of a Russian song, "Pesenka" by Ruki Vverh.

ATC is most definitely a one hit wonder group stateside. According to Wikipedia:

The song was also a surprise one-hit wonder in the United States, peaking as high as number #28 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and having a chart run of several months. As a result, it was featured on the 2001 compilation album Now That's What I Call Music! 6, which further exposed ATC to a North American audience.

However, ATC never really toured North America so subsequent singles just kind of fizzled.

"Around the World" charted the highest on Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 chart, going all the way to #12.
