Throwback Thursday: ‘Because of You’ by 98 Degrees (1998)
For me, 98 Degrees was a very distant third in the boy band rankings. N Sync and Backstreet Boys were pretty much tied for first and then way down at #3 was 98 Degrees.
However, they did do their thing in the 90's early 00's. For example, "Because of You" was huge!
98 Degrees is made up of members Nick and Drew Lachey, Jeff Timmons, and Justin Jeffre.
"Because of You" was released in 1998 and was on the album, 98 Degrees and Rising.
Full disclosure, I own that album.
The song went all the way to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The music video for this song caused a lot of buzz because the guys are seen on top of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and contrary to popular belief, they really were up there! There were no special effects when it came to placing them on the bridge. There were other special effects used in the video for the zooming and morphing effect, but the guys really were on the bridge.
Here is a fun new game. Take a drink every time one of the guys uses an arm gesture. Whoa, there is a lot of arm gesturing.
After a hiatus starting in 2003, the guys reunited in 2012 with all the original members. They toured with New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men.
