Do you think you know good BBQ when you taste it and do you think you have what it takes to judge good BBQ?  Certified BBQ judges are in high demand, so classes will soon be offered to those who would like to become qualified to judge sanctioned BBQ events.

Organizers of the Original South Dakota BBQ Championships will be hosting a Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) Certified BBQ Judging School on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Huron Country Club in Huron, South Dakota.

The class, run by KCBS representatives Dennis and Linda Polson from Lebo, Kansas, will train those how to judge and grade world-class ribs and brisket, pulled pork and chicken.

After the class is completed, the participants will earn their judging certification and have the opportunity to judge in over 300 sanctioned BBQ contests nationwide.  Many of the contests are in the Midwest, and judging opportunities in South Dakota are available at contests in Huron, Vermillion, Watertown, Hill City and Spearfish.

Cost for the class is $60 for KCBS members and $95 for non-members, but the fee for non-members will include a one year KCBS membership.

Registration forms are available at the Huron Chamber & Visitors’ Bureau, the State Fair office or at the South Dakota BBQ Championship website.

The Original South Dakota BBQ Championships will be held on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds on June 5 and 6, 2015.  Contact the South Dakota State Fairgrounds for more information.
