The Sioux Empire Fair opens for the 75th time Friday at 5 p.m. at the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds.  That, according to the Fair's President and C.E.O. Scott Wick.

"That's our "sneak a peek" as we call it.  The entire midway will be up and running.  All the food vendors will be operating as well.  It's free gate admission.  When you come in, you don't have to pay.  You can enjoy everything on the midway and the food.  We have Johnny Holm in the beer garden starting at 9 p.m. The first two thousand people that come through the gates get birthday cake because it's our 75th anniversary."

Scott Wick says there are a lot of new events and attractions for the 2014 Sioux Empire Fair.  Among them:

K9's in Flight.  Watch the rescued dogs perform tricks on ground, in air, and in water.

Pipestone Discovery Barn.  It will feature a milking parlor, calf feedings, chick hatching, and more ag education.

Great American Medical Show (in Pioneer Lane).

4-H 108 Years Display. History of Minnehaha County 4-H.

The Sioux Empire Fair will host 300,000 visitors.
