The Minnesota Timberwolves and Ricky Rubio have agreed to a contact extension that will keep him in Minnesota for the foreseeable future.

The team announced that they have agreed to terms with Rubio on a four year deal worth $56 million dollars.

With a couple intriguing names at the point guard position becoming either restricted or un-restricted free agents next summer, the Timberwolves believe Rubio can be the guy that can lead the team to future prominence and there wasn't a need to look elsewhere.

Personally, I can think of about 12 or so point guards that deserve more money than the lack luster Rubio who continually looks unable to shoot a high percentage from the field and more so considers flash over substance.

The good side of it for the Timberwolves is it looks as if the rest of the young talent either acquired this off season or previously on the roster is promising and improving.

I just feel bad for Twolves fans who are looking to take it to the level of competitiveness known during the KG days and a lack luster point guard who's making that kind of money is more a detriment than a asset in my opinion.
