Taylor Swift does not appreciate the way the media compared her "Bad Blood" music video to Madonna's "Bitch, I'm Madonna." (Oops.)

In her interview with Vanity Fair, Taylor brought up her favorite feminist-lite spiel once more, claiming the only similarity between hers and Madonna's videos is the fact that they're both helmed by major female artists. The media must have just imagined the overwhelming amount of celebrity cameos boasted by both videos.

Taylor said (via Billboard), "I felt so much resentment that they would take two women who made ambitious music videos and use that as a qualifying factor to comparing and contrasting them. I hated that because Madonna and I have gotten along and been fans of each other and performed together, and I didn't want to see that, and there was nothing I could do, and there's nothing she could do, because that's the way the world works right now."

To be fair, both videos are vastly different. Madonna's is a high-energy, giant party clip without an explicit plot line. Taylor's "Bad Blood" is a visual exercise in metaphorical revenge against Katy Perry an unnamed female rival. But both artists chose to incorporate their celebrity pals in their respective videos, and they both came out within weeks of each other. Just because they're women doesn't make an obvious comparison sexist. Frankly, the idea that women should be exempt from any sort of criticism goes against the very concept of feminism and equality.
