Natasha had never shot a gun in her entire life. Last Wednesday, she got her chance to do that at the fantastic new indoor rifle and pistol range at the Outdoor Adventure Center in Brookings.

After a few brief lessons and tips, Tasha did a pretty good job. She hit the target with my 9mm chambered Glock 17 with five rounds. The video of her pulling the trigger the very first time is quite funny. She also didn't like it.

The Glock kicked and even threw the spent shell casing into her face. (This is why you should always wear eye protection!) She did enjoy shooting the AR-15, video of which is coming later this week.

We shot a lot of video and more of that is coming. In case you're wondering, like my wife was, the video was shot on a tripod set up forward of the firing line and we were the only ones there. No one was standing out there.

The Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) was a really great place to shoot. While it is an indoor range, you can shoot rifles there so long as the energy of the bullet is under 3,600 foot pounds at 25 yards. This means you could shoot rifles as big as a .308 Winchester, .270 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, even 7mm Remington Magnum would all be usable at the OAC. Shooting a .300 Winchester Magnum, a .338 Lapua Magnum, or a .50 BMG would be out of the question.

Right now you can get a coupon for a free 30 minute session at the OAC's shooting or archery range. It must be used before October 31, 2014.
