Wow. Just wow.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis didn't just perform 'Same Love,' their commanding and potent song about same-sex equality, at the 2014 Grammy Awards (Jan. 26). The Seattle rap duo had couples of all ages, races and orientations get married on their cathedral-like stage during the performance.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis acknowledged that they were an underground rap group when 2013 started. Now, they are one of the biggest acts in pop music. The pair performed on 'New Year's Rockin' Eve,' and before they took the stage in frigid NYC, they spoke to host Ryan Seacrest about scratching and clawing their way to the top.
It was a big year for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, so it made sense for the duo to open this year's 'The Grammy Nominations Live!!' concert with their breakthrough hit 'Thrift Shop.'
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are currently in Miami, but that didn't stop the duo from appearing at the 2013 American Music Awards (Nov. 24). They beamed in from their concert in Florida, offering a satellite performance of their smash hit 'Can't Hold Us.'
Congratulations to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis! The duo accepted their American Music Award trophy for the Best Rap/Hip-Hop Album via satellite from Miami, and of course, Mack -- real name Ben Haggerty -- used his platform to draw attention to important social issues. His activism doesn't end at 'Same Love!'
