Using sporting events is just one means to wipe out hunger. South Dakota Corn continues to build a foundation of generosity to gather food.

It’s the annual fundraiser for Feeding South Dakota in conjunction with South Dakota Corn and the Sioux Falls Skyforce and kicking off Corn Week in the process.

The annual SOUPer Bowl put on by our friends at KDLT TV and Hy-Vee to benefit Feeding South Dakota has kicked off.

It's an odd name, to begin with. But once you figure out that Cranksgiving is a bike event to collect food to feed people, it all comes into focus. This Saturday (Nov. 11) is Cranksgiving in Sioux Falls. Registration starts at noon. Riders leave at 1 p.m. and it ends at 3 p.m. There is a team element if you're into that or you can do it yourself. There are prizes for top finishers and lots of ways to accumulate points and also win prizes.

This Saturday cyclists from around the Sioux Empire will peddle their way around town collecting food items that will be donated to the Food Pantry.

Feeding South Dakota is asking all of us to help provide a real Thanksgiving for needy friends and neighbors.

The shelves are starting to get bare at the various food pantries here in the Sioux Empire, and the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are teaming up to help.
