Rape Victim Changes Story, Assault Didn’t Happen in Downtown Sioux Falls Alley
The woman who reported she had been raped in an alley in downtown Sioux Falls early Sunday has changed her story.
Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says the 30-year-old woman has told a detective that she was, indeed, assaulted, but she knows the suspect and the incident happened somewhere other than the 500 block of North Main Avenue:
The woman had told police she was sexually assaulted around 12:30 Sunday morning as she walked on North Main Avenue, but Clemens says the incident actually happened farther north and in a building.
He says the State’s Attorney’s office will decide whether the woman could be charged with giving false information about the assault.
In the meantime, the case is still being investigated.
