Most people with mental illness recover and are able to lead fulfilling lives in the community---where they receive ongoing treatment and support.

Linda Naomi Katz, author of the best selling book "Surviving Mental Illness," knows that for a fact!

Linda was diagnosed at age 24 with bipolar disorder.  "Once I started taking medication, my mind was clear.  I gained clarity."  For the first time in her life, Linda was on the road to recovery.  "I didn't hear voices anymore.  I didn't have hallucinations anymore."

Linda learned to survive and thrive while managing her mental illness.  "There is no cure for mental illness.  But, I believe in recovery.  I believe that is possible.for anyone to have."

Instead of withdrawing from life, Linda is coping with the stigma of mental illness.  "A lot of people are afraid to come out in the open because of that stigma.  But, if you have a good support network, you can do anything."  In other words, there is hope.  "If you have the right kind of treatment, the right medication and therapist, you can recover."
