It's been a longstanding tradition for the Super Bowl to use Roman numerals. Coming up in 2016, the NFL will get the "L" out and just go with an easier "50."

According to NFL.com, the use of the standard numbering will only be used for ONE YEAR and will return to Roman numerals for Super Bowl LI in Houston. This year will remain Super Bowl XLIX.

The logo does look pretty slick, but going away from the Roman numerals seems quite different. Then again, who wants to slap a big "L" on the top of their logo...think elementary school. Just remember, "L" is for love right?
