Summit League’s North Dakota State Bison Open NCAA Tournament with Gonzaga
North Dakota State, the Summit League Tournament champion and regular season co-champ, will open the NCAA Tournament as the number 15 seed in the South Region.
The Bison (23-9) will play second seed Gonzaga (32-2) in Seattle, Friday, March 20. The Zags are the champions of the West Coast Conference, and are the most accurate shooting team in the nation, hitting 52.4 percent of their field goal attempts. Gonzaga is also number two in the nation in scoring margin (+18.2), and in the top ten in assists and scoring.
The Zags are led by junior forward Kyle Wiltjer's 17 points per game, Wiltjer transferred from Kentucky after the 2012-13 season, and sat out all of last year before becoming eligible this season.
NDSU is led by senior guard Lawrence Alexander, the Summit League's Player of the Year. Alexander led conference in scoring, three-point shooting, minutes, and blocked shots.
This is the second straight tournament appearance for the Bison, who upset Oklahoma in their opener last season before falling to San Diego State in game two.
