Summit League Women: South Dakota Starts Strong, Beats North Dakota State

For the second straight game South Dakota got a strong first half in Summit League play, and for the second straight game, the Coyotes came out on top, beating North Dakota State 83-70.

USD, fresh off of scoring 42 in the first half in their first conference win last Saturday against Omaha, shot 57 percent in the first half in Fargo, 6-of-9 from the free throw line, outrebounding the Bison 21-12 to take a 46-35 lead at the break.

Guard Nicole Seekamp was back on the floor for the first time in more than a week after suffering an ankle injury.  She was 4-of-6 from the floor in the first half with 9 points.  Tia Hemiller led the Coyotes with a perfect shooting first half, 5-of-5 from the floor, 2-of-2 on 3's for 12 points at the break.

In the second half, Raeshel Contreras took over with 17 of her career-high 28 in the second half, leading four Coyotes in double figures.  Hemiller finished with 15, Seekamp with 13, Polly Harrington with 11.

USD outrebounded NDSU by six and scored 30 points in the paint to run their win streak to two.
