The Helpline Center congratulates Berneice Johnson on being named the November 2016 Volunteer of the Month. The volunteer of the month award is sponsored by the Helpline Center along with MetaBank.

Berneice is a Critical Care Waiting Room Hostess at Sanford Medical Center. She provides clerical support to clinic administration by answering phones, greeting visitors and providing directions to offices or conference rooms.

Berneice currently volunteers every other Wednesday. She has volunteered with Sanford for over 35 years and is 101 years old. To date, Berneice has logged 11,152 hours. That's roughly 318 hours a year, 26.5 hours a month, and 6.6 hours a week.

Her advice to others:

"Stay busy, have a positive attitude and help others along the way when you can. You just might live to be 100 years old too."

The Helpline Center and MetaBank are pleased to present Berneice with a framed certificate, a gift from MetaBank and a letter of appreciation from Mayor Mike Huether. She will also be honored at the Spirit of Volunteerism Awards banquet on May 11, 2017.
