Spring Break Education: Pueblo, Colorado-Style, Part Two
I had no intention of learning so many things while out in Pueblo, Colorado for my sister's birthday, but sometimes these things just sneak up and surprise you!
First of all there was all the information about the mistreatment of immigrants and laborers there, which I recently wrote about.
Then I discovered there was another thriving industry in that territory and a lot of western territories back in the late 1800's and early 1900's- -prostitution. But there were rules and regulations you had to follow if you were going to run a bona fide brothel.
First of all you needed a license:
Then you had to keep an eye on your "ladies"- - -
And you needed to advertise- -
Which apparently led to a thriving business and steady work for struggling artists...
Right up until the great flood!
So once again, I learned even more on my spring break than I ever imagined I would!
