A former employer of one of the U.S. Senate Candidates who wants to take over South Dakota’s open seat wants to stay out of the political fray.

A political ad funded by MoveOn.org openly supports Rick Weiland the Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate.  The problem with the ad is that AARP’s name and logo was used without permission.

In a press release, Sarah Jennings, State Director for AARP South Dakota issued the following statement:
“AARP does not endorse candidates or make contributions to political campaigns or candidates.
“While candidate for U.S. Senate, Rick Weiland, was employed by AARP in 2002 and 2003, AARP has not endorsed him or any other candidate in the U.S. Senate race.  AARP did not authorize the use of its name or logo in ads currently running by MoveOn... "

Weiland is running against Republican Mike Rounds along with Independents Rick Weiland and Gordon Howie.
