If you think social media stresses you out - well, you're wrong. Kind of.

A new study from the Pew Research Center disputes the notion that social media leads to higher stress levels.

The study found that when using high-tech devices, most people - on the whole - are no more stressed out than people who aren't on social media.

Keith Hampton is the study's main author and says there is one exception.

"When bad things are happening to other people, who are posting - their stress can be contagious, meaning social networks can stress us out indirectly."
