Make that six in a row for the Sioux Falls Skyforce as they grab another victory over Delaware 108-85 Saturday night at the Sanford Pentagon.

It’s still too early in the season to make a prediction on what a team is capable of achieving in the long term. However stringing together double digit wins will grab attention.

The 87ers (4-5) took their largest lead of the weekend by scoring the first four points of the game. It didn’t last long. With the game tied at 10 mid way through the first quarter, the onslaught began and concluded with a frenetic defensive effort to close out the period with Sioux Falls (6-2) leading 30-14.

During the final 35 seconds, Sioux Falls played exclusively on their end of the court. Bubu Palo missed a shot, the rebound was stolen by Byron Mullens, after working the shot clock Palo drew a foul and hit a free throw, Greg Whittington stole the ball to feed Mullens for a layup. That sequence momentarily shell-shocked the Sevens and a recovery never materialized.

Guard DeAndre Liggins takes playing defense personally and leads by example. “It starts with me. I’ve got to come out and set the tone defensively. The coaches also set us up with the correct principles. From there we ran them off the three point line because they are a great shooting team.” Liggins also had it going offensively. Check the highlights below.

Coach Dan Craig noted that the Skyforce defense was disruptive and was pleased with how the offense ran. “We really shared the ball with almost seven guys in double figures. We got our turnovers down to eleven which is a winning number for us.”

By respecting the orange and forcing Delaware into 24 turnovers stands out as a key element in matching the longest NBADL winning streak in this young season. Westchester also had a winning streak of six. Nowhere near Golden State Warriors territory, but you take what you can get.

Liggins scored a season high 22 points with 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Miami Heat assignee Jarnell Stokes was back to form with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Whittington posted his fifth double- double with 13 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.

Tops on the Delaware list were John Bohannon with 16 points, 11 rebounds and Jordan McRae supplying 16 points of his own.

Sioux Falls gets one more week between game action before a pretty busy latter half of December. They take to the road and face Texas on Saturday night. Delaware will have a quicker turnaround with a home date with Fort Wayne on Wednesday.
