A Sioux Falls police official says the car that was rolled near 10th and Fairfax, after crashing into several vehicles Wednesday night, had been stolen earlier in the evening.

Information Officer Sam Clemens says the 2004 Ford Taurus was stolen from the area of West 12th Street and South Prairie Avenue.

But he says police didn't know that right away, and neither did the owner.

Clemens says the owner happened to see the vehicle on the 10pm news, and she then called in to tell police she had accidentally left the keys in the car when she parked it.

Clemens says the charges filed against 30-year-old James Castaneda, who was driving the stolen car, include possession of stolen property, three counts of hit-and-run, aggravated eluding, fleeing police, reckless driving, speeding and driving with a suspended license.

Police say Castaneda is a transient.
