SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Sioux Falls will host a national aviation convention next fall. The National Association of Aviation Officials Convention and Tradeshow will run Sept. 28-Oct. 1, 2013.

The association was founded in 1931, predating the Federal Aviation Administration's predecessor, the Civil Aeronautics Authority.

States established NASAO to ensure uniformity of safety measures, to standardize airport regulations and develop a national air transportation system responsive to local, state and regional needs.

Members invest more than $3 billion a year in planning, operations, infrastructure development, maintenance and navigational aids at more than 5,000 airports across the country.
