On Monday evening, Sioux Falls Police were called to Avera McKennan Hospital E.R. for  a stabbing victim.  When officers arrived they found a 19-year-old Sioux Falls man with a stab wound to his abdomen.

The victim said he and some friends were out at Mercato's store at 631 W. 11th when the victim was approached by a Hispanic male, 18 to 20 years of age, 5'7", 135 lbs, with short curly dark hair.  He was wearing a dark colored jacket. tan khaki pants, and black shoes.

The suspect asked the victim for some money.  When he said he didn't have any the suspect took out a knife and told the victim to give him his money.  The victim told the suspect again he didn't have any money.  The suspect then stabbed the victim and fled.

The victim, who was transported to the hospital by his friends, was treated for a non-life threatening injury.
