Major Thomas Riggs is ecstatic about the Salvation Army fund drive to this point in Sioux Falls. As a result, people in need will have a merrier Christmas.

For their kettle campaign, Riggs said their objective was quite ambitious. “$350,000 was our goal. However we are going to surpass $310,000 and I’m excited about that.”

It’s not without numerous noble attempts. Their special drive this weekend was quite fruitful. “A company called up and said they wanted to do the dollar for dollar match. They were going to give us $10,000 and we raised $13,000 so that gave us $23,000 in one day.

All of the money raised in the red-kettle campaign will stay in the local area of Minnehaha and Lincoln Counties. The bell ringers will continue to collect for the Salvation Army kettles through 3pm on Christmas Eve Day.
