More changes have arrived at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport. More flights and destinations are a new wrinkle. Parking has been revamped over the last few years. Inside the terminal is a host of new construction and an adjoining hotel is under consideration.

That’s not all that’s going up around the airport.  A new fence is being constructed that will meet the standards set in place by the Federal Aviation Administration. The old fence is 6 feet tall. It’s been around 30 years. Critters could possibly leap over it.

According to Dan Letellier, Executive Director of FSD, the project will put new fence around the entire airport and the layout will change slightly because of clearance and height standards that have adjusted since the last boundary was built. FAA Airport Improvement funds will cover 90 percent of the cost of the upgrade.
