Sioux Falls Police Officers have been busy writing up tickets for parked cars following Friday's snowfall!

That's according to Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens.

"This is one of the things we see every year. The first snowfall is unfortunately a good reminder to people that they can't park on the street until it's plowed curb to curb. So far, we have issued 1,323 tickets which is about normal we see after the first snowfall."

If your vehicle was ticketed, Clemens advises you to get it paid!

"If the car is still parked on the road and they have been plowed, we are going to be ticketing again and towing those cars---removing them off the roadways. It's just a good reminder for people---once it snows and the snow alert has been declared---you need to make sure you're not parking on the street until it's plowed."

Aside from ticketing cars, the City of Sioux Falls would like to remind residents: Don't wait. Shovel within 48 hours from the end of a weather event to remove snow and ice from sidewalks. Failure to clear sidewalks will result in citations and other costs to the property owner.
