As in other parts of the country, Sioux Falls Police Officer Sam Clemens says there is a connection between meth use and crime in Sioux Falls.

"A lot of these tend to be more violent crimes. A lot of the robberies, the thefts and a lot of the more serious crimes seem to be related to drug use and specifically meth. It's people that have the addiction and are looking for some easy cash so they can go buy more drugs."

Clemens says people of all ages are addicted to meth!

"You think that it might be young people in their twenties buying and using meth. But, the reality is we see residents into their sixties addicted to the drug and still using it."

According to the Wall Street Journal, many meth users claim they got addicted the first time they tried the drug. A little more than one-third of people who are in treatment facilities are there because of meth addiction.
