Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says an arrest had been made in connection with the weekend kidnapping of a Sioux Falls woman.

"She awoke to him putting on her shoes. He grabbed her, threw her over his shoulder and took her out to a van. Once the two were outside, he put her inside and shut the door. She tried to get out. He then took the woman across town. They ended up stopping at an intersection and she tried to get out. He got hold of her and put her back in. He punched her as well. Once they arrived at a destination, he punched her even more. At that point, she just didn't feel comfortable leaving. She thought he would have beaten even more if she tried to leave. The next day he took her to the hospital."

The 40-year-old suspect was picked up and charged with kidnapping and simple assault.

The woman was not seriously injured.
