Sioux Falls Police Spokesman Sam Clemens says a drug deal went bad Thursday night at the Hy-Vee store at 49th Street and Louise Avenue in the city.

"We had a man that through a mutual friend had essentially met with a stranger at the parking lot. His intent was to sell this guy some marijuana. When he met up with them, there were two guys inside the car. They punched the victim several times, took the marijuana and his car keys as well. Then they left."

Clemens says officers were able to find out exactly what had taken place.

"When he reported it to police he gave a different version that he was just sitting there and these guys attacked him. We were able to figure out exactly what took place. One was a white man, the other Native American man---both in their twenties. We really don't have much more than that at this point."

Clemens says it's not known if the victim with the marijuana will be charged.
