Mental illness is coming out of the shadows. And Phyllis Arends said on KSOO’s Viewpoint University Tuesday that her group - the National Alliance on Mental Illness - can help.

“I think more people are recognizing that they have some mental health problems," Arends said. "Families and individuals are more comfortable reaching out and saying our family’s affected. And NAMI is here. We’ve been in your shoes.”

NAMI is holding Family to Family classes for family members to learn more about helping loved ones with mental illness, starting in February.
