Sioux Falls Mom Busted for Drugs on Night of Fatal Fire

A Sioux Falls mom who lost her three kids in a house fire December 22nd is now facing drug charges stemming from that tragic night.

Court documents show that on December 26th, Rhiannon White was being interviewed by police when she gave them her medical records from the night of the fire. Those records showed she had methamphetamine and ecstasy in her system the night of the fire after she was checked out by the hospital. White claimed she had not done meth in 14 years.

White then changed her story, and admitted to doing meth in 2009.

During their investigation, police also learned that White’s sister said she got a text from her the night of the fire that said White had stopped at her drug dealer’s house on her way home from a bar.

Earlier this month, police interviewed White again, who said she had done the drug two days before the fire. White told investigators that she took the drug because she was run down and tired and felt like ‘superwoman’ when she took the drug and ‘she could take care of the kids.’

Medical records obtained by police also show she had marijuana in her system at the time of the fire.

If convicted of both charges she faces 20 years in prison.

Sixteen-year-old Michael Hensely, 12-year-old Savannah Coon and six-year-old Alivia Coon died in the fire on North Main Avenue December 22nd.
