A man was stabbed in Sioux Falls Monday morning and needed emergency surgery. Police say he is in stable condition and should recover from the attack.

About 12:45 AM police were called to the 300 block of North West Avenue because of an argument. Police Officer Sam Clemens the two men had been drinking prior to the incident.

“We had a few people that were in a garage. At some point (during the argument) the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim two times in the chest.”

The 21-year-old victim who is listed as a transient was allegedly stabbed by 23-year-old Dylan Chae Fast Horse of Sioux Falls. Despite the severity of the injury, Clemens says Fast Horse was only charged with aggravated assault.

“When officers got there they found the suspect giving aid to the victim.”

Police say Fast Horse did live in the apartment building where the incident took place.
