SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — A Sioux Falls man will only serve 90 days in prison, despite pleading guilty to rape and sexual contact with a child under 16.

Twenty-two-year-old Lee Schlotman was sentenced on Thursday.

The case involved five victims, one he met online. However, Schlotman was only charged in the cases of two victims. An additional 19 charges, which incolved three of the victims, were dropped as part of a plea agreement.

Schlotman had faced up to 30 years in prison. He received eight years, but had all but 90 days suspended as part of the agreement.

“I’m sorry to all of the girls I’ve taken advantage of for my personal reasons,” Schlotman said in court.

Schlotman's defense attorney Josh Zellmer told the Argus Leader:

Tyler seems to have tried to fill some sort of void, not through the use of drugs or alcohol, but through sex. We’re not here because Tyler is an evil person. We’re here because of his deficit areas and insecurities.

Schlotman would face the full term of his sentence if he violates the conditions of his agreement, which includes no sexual contact with underage girls.
