Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says a Sioux Falls man was arrested following a police pursuit Tuesday night.

"Officers saw a car driving on West 12th Street and attempted to stop it for a traffic violation. Once they tried to stop the vehicle, it took off at a pretty high rate of speed. The car ended up spinning out at the intersection of 10th Street and Kiwanis Avenue. We had a driver and a passenger that both took off running. The officer was able to catch the driver. When they got back to the car, police smelled some marijuana, found some marijuana in the car. There was a handgun under the driver's seat that turned out to be stolen. There were also quite a few items that had some small amounts of meth with it."

Clemens says 27-year-old Darious Lee Johnson of Sioux Falls is facing a number of drug related charges.

Authorities are searching for the passenger who fled the scene.
