Sioux Falls Man Charged with Reckless Burning Inside His Apartment

A Sioux Falls man has been charged with reckless burning in an apartment building in the 700 Block of South Western Avenue on Friday.

"We had a man that had melted some candle wax in a pot and was lighting pages from a phone book," according to Sioux Falls Police Spokesman Sam Clemens. "He then put that into the wax so it would burn. This created a lot of smoke and set off the smoke alarms inside the apartment complex. Officers were able to piece together what happened and figured out who was responsible. The man was arrested for reckless burning."

Clemens identifies the suspect as 46-year-old Kenneth Fletcher.
