Sioux Falls Police Officer Sam Clemens says a human trafficking case has been uncovered in the city and an arrest has been made.

"On Tuesday we had a woman who was able to get out of a situation. She had been controlled by a guy and forced to prostitute herself for at least the last two or three years. The prostitution happened in Sioux Falls on several different days. There was an argument between the two of them. He ended up leaving after she fell asleep. When she woke up Tuesday morning, she noticed he was gone and went to a neighbor---called police. We got her out of there and into a safe environment. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Michael Dickey of Sioux Falls, was arrested on human trafficking and aggravated assault domestic charges."

Clemens says prostitution exists in Sioux Falls!

"We know that it's been here. Our focus has been to find women that are trafficked and forced into prostitution against their will. We have made a few arrests in human trafficking. This has really been the work of our street crimes officers. We have had some success in finding women forced into prostitution."
