The Sioux Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting a welcome celebration on Friday at the Valley Springs Rest Stop/Information Center. That's the word from the CVB's Teri Schmidt.

"We will be out there with t shirts for the bikers, cookies and lots of hospitality. There will be several other businesses with us. We'll be saying 'hey welcome to South Dakota and welcome to Sioux Falls. Come and stay with us on your way to or from the Sturgis Rally. It's all about hosting people.'"

Schmidt says the event allows the local hospitality industry an opportunity to draw visitors off the interstate to promote the community and its attractions.

"They love it. They say oftentimes 'we never see anything like this elsewhere in the country."

This will be the largest group of Sioux Falls attractions and hotels in the history of welcoming visitors to Sioux Falls at the Rest Stop Welcomes.

The CVB started the Rest Stop Welcomes 25 years ago.
