April says it's the giving that makes you are!  Perhaps, that's why the Sioux Falls senior citizen has been an active volunteer at the weekly Faith Temple Food Giveaways.

"It started for me when I couldn't afford to buy groceries.  I'm retired and don't have enough money to feed myself. Sure, social security helped. But, the checks just didn't cover everything.  That's when I began going to the Food Giveaways on Friday.  Aside from handing out groceries to those in need right here in Sioux Falls, I am able to take enough food back home that can last for a week.  God bless Faith Temple for what they do!"

Aside from April, Pastor Jeff Hayes of Faith Temple Church says hundreds of residents converge on the new Nordstrom Johnson Building at the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds every Friday afternoon to receive a variety of food items.

"We're so thankful to Art and Marie Nordstrom for this wonderful building.  I believe their hope and desire was to have people fed there. Beginning this week, the Banquet started to feed people on Tuesday night and Wednesday night.  People can go for a home cooked meal.  Then on Friday, they can receive food from the Faith Temple Food Giveaway."

If you're in need of food, Pastor Jeff welcomes you to the weekly event!

"Absolutely, everyone is welcome here! People ask me all the time if they should bring an ID or some kind of record.  I tell them 'you come on out and that qualifies you to go through the line."

Pastor Jeff Hayes and the many volunteers, including April, are preparing for Friday's Food Giveaway.   It starts at 4 PM and continues until the food is gone.
