Fire Department Investigates Sioux Falls House Fire
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue investigators are looking into a fire in a split-level house in the southeast part of the city Sunday evening.
Battalion Chief Steve Brunette says crews were called around 6:40 p.m. to 3804 South Kris Drive.
“We had smoke and small fire coming from the roof. The smoke was coming from the roof vents, fire did actually breach the roof in just a small spot. Crews made entry into the home, made a small hole in the bathroom ceiling and was able to extinguish the fire in about 15 minutes,” explained Brunette. “The fire actually damaged the entire attic. There was extensive fire damage and smoke damage throughout the entire attic of the home.”
Brunette says the cause is still under investigation, but he says the fire may have been caused by a faulty bathroom vent.
The house was vacant at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.
