Late Tuesday night a father protecting his son from a teenage mob was hit multiple times from an air pistol in western Sioux Falls.

Sioux Falls Police say it happened about 10:00 PM on S. Galway Ave. Officer Sam Clemens believes the dispute centered around the girlfriend of the teenage boy who lived there.

“The victim saw a group of teenagers going after his son. So he went outside to stop it. One of them pulled out a BB gun and shot him several times with that.”

A combination of welts and bruises in the 46 year-old victim’s chest area did not need further medical attention. It was not clear how many teenagers were in the group, but the victim did identify three of them by name.

Police say after the shooting, the group dispersed quickly. It is believed that the girlfriend who allegedly was at the basis of the skirmish was not present at the time of the incident.
