A bright future awaits the youth of our country when given the opportunity to produce ideas.  That’s the opinion of Sioux Falls City Councilor Christine Erickson who has been inspired to dedicated some time over the past few weeks to speaking to elementary school classes in the city.

Erickson spoke to a group of 1st and 2nd graders and is encouraged by the feedback the students gave.  “What’s so fascinating talking with these young kids, their ideas are magnificent.  We need to empower them so that hopefully they will become the future of our great city.”

One particular event earlier this year provides the inspiration for Erickson’s zest for the youth.  One young girl implored the City Council to consider opening the libraries on Sundays during the summertime.  “She came up with such an easy fix.  It was one of my favorite stories.”

The Sioux Falls City Council has no scheduled meetings for the rest of the month and will meet as a group in 2015.
