It hasn’t been a great year for the Sioux Falls Canaries and the axe has fallen on manager Chris Paterson.

The Sioux Falls Canaries announced on Tuesday that Chris Paterson has been dismissed from his manager position. Shelby Ford, who played as an infielder for the Canaries in the past, will be the interim manager for the rest of the season.

Paterson failed t0 meet the front office’s expectations according to a press release sent by the team.

“Chris worked hard to put good players on the field, but unfortunately we haven’t seen the results we would like,” said Canaries General Manager Duell Higbe. “We want to create a winning culture with our ball club and that starts right now as we focus on finishing the year strong and building towards next season. We will continue to work hard to find the right pieces and improve our team on the field.”

Sioux Falls has lost nine straight games and sit in last place of the North Division with a record of 17-38. They are currently the worst team in the American Association.
