Singer Joe Cocker is dead at age 70.  His agent Barrie Marshall confirmed he has died of lung cancer.

Cocker is perhaps best remembered for his cover of the Beatles "With A Little Help From My Friends" and his duet with Jennifer Warnes, "Up Where We Belong", from the movie "An Officer And A Gentleman" which hit number one and went on to win both a Grammy and an Academy Award in 1983.

Joe Cocker was a singing legend with over 40 albums in his 50 plus years of performing.  Ringo Star of the Beatles tweeted this out just after word of Cocker's passing:

There will be a private memorial for the rock legend.  Cocker is survived by his wife, Pam, his brother Victor Cocker, his step-daughter Zoey Schroeder and his two grandchildren.
