Shooting Investigation In Clear Lake
One person is dead and two are injured after an incident in Clear Lake, in Deuel County.
Attorney General Marty Jacklley says officers were called around 9pm Sunday to a report of a double shooting at a residence in Clear Lake.
Two people with gunshot wounds were flown to a hospital for treatment, while the alleged shooter, 40-year-old Brett Pommer of Clear Lake, barricaded himself inside.
SWAT teams from the Highway Patrol and Codington County tried to negotiate with Pommer, but were unable to make contact. When joint SWAT teams entered the house they found Pommer dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Agencies assisting in the investigation included the Deuel County Sheriff’s Office, Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Codington County Sheriff’s Office, Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office, Estelline Police Department, Watertown Police Department, South Dakota Game, Fish and Park, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Codington County Search and Rescue, Deuel County Emergency Management, Deuel County Volunteer Fire Department and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
