The first teaser for Netflix's 13 Reasons Why is here, courtesy of Selena Gomez, who is executive-producing the show.

Based on the best-selling YA mystery novel of the same name, the show centers on a teenage girl who commits suicide and leaves behind thirteen tapes explaining—you guessed it—the reasons why, as well how certain people in her life impacted her.

"They all killed her," reads text in the teaser, which offers a look at some of the high school peers who influenced her decision.

Hours after revealing the teaser, the pop star shared a selfie from the day she pitched the project to the streaming company.

"This was the day I was nervous as hell going into @Netflix for the first time to talk about @13reasonswhy," she wrote. "My mom found this book in 2009 and worked her a-- off to make it with me, guide me and tell this story authentically."

Gomez has long been an advocate for anti-bullying.

In August 2014, she posted a message on Instagram calling for more compassion within schools, writing, "Special request to all you kids returning to school in August: If you see someone who is struggling to make friends or being bullied because he/she doesn’t have many friends or because they are shy or not as pretty or not dressed in the most 'in' clothes ― PLEASE step up...You never know what that person might be facing outside of school. Your kindness might just make a BIG difference in someone’s life."

At least two of her hit singles also share messages about being kind to others as well as yourself: "Who Says" and "Kill 'Em With Kindness."

13 Reasons Why hits Netflix March 31. Watch the teaser below:
